BF6 Gamers Are Convinced: Tasks Are Way Too Hard

The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 was met with significant enthusiasm, notably for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are voicing discontent with some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.

Gamers have begun turning to personalized games made via Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how grueling these challenges have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Tasks

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four categories of assignments, but where most merely grant cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the exclusive means of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one primary weapons present in the game.

Several of these restricted firearms might eventually earn a place on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration on Reddit

On Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This mission is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many advantages in battle as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Meanwhile, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you aim to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge

One more community participant pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with marksman guns

This is challenging enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, another expansive area, and maybe Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.

The Alternative Method

There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. This portal feature is a system that permits you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This means you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.

However, when doing the challenges in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for finishing these in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?

Potential Changes

It is expected if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because unless they are modified, some players simply will never acquire the locked firearms.

For now, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these demanding battlefield assignments, expecting a fairer overall gameplay in coming revisions.
